Todd Agnew is my hero. In all seriousness, he’s one of the best. In his music he asks questions that are often thought but rarely voiced. One moment he’s singing about the power and majesty of God, the next he’s asking why he is the way he is, then confessing his sins and the war that constantly wages inside of him. It sounds all too familiar, this flux between standing in awe of God, and questioning Him. Todd’s honesty is refreshing in the midst of this messed up world, so much so that he has quickly become my favorite artist (note: not my favorite band, but favorite artist).
As a side note: Oddly enough, his music could be categorized as “Southern Rock.” If you know me then you know I don’t waste much time with country music, but I’ve realized that there is a difference between the two. That said, I can heartily say that I enjoy some music that has a definate Southern sound, just not “country” as it is known today.
